Fernando Pinto
CEO, TAP Portugal
Mr. Fernando Pinto was born on June 12, 1949, in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Before he was appointed to CEO of TAP Portugal in October 2000 Mr. Pinto was President and CEO of Varig S.A., between 1996 – 2000. Mr. Pinto holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Extension in Business Administration and also various technical specialisations in Aeronautics. As his graduation project, he presented a prototype of the first hovercraft made in Brazil, applying technology absorbed in England.
He is a private pilot, the founder of the first light aircraft factory in Brazil (Microleve Com. e lnd. Ltda.) and he is also the President of the AEA – Association of European Airlines. He is married and has two children.
